is implicated. the pentagon says general john allen apparently had inappropriate communication with the woman linked to the scandal. as fox's ainsley earhart reports, the fbi is busy with multiple investigations. >> reporter: fbi agents searching the home of paula broadwell, the woman whose affair with general david petraeus led to his resignation as the cia director. the agents went to her house in charlotte, north carolina on monday night. some of the general's former staff members and friends reportedly shocked that this woman was sending e-mails warning jill kelley to stay away from him. now, john allen is under investigation. defense secretary leon pan eight said he ordered an investigation of general allen on monday. the secretary who is a former cia director also talking about general petraeus' resignation. he says, quote, i think he took the right step and i think it is important when you are director of the cia with all the challenges that fess you in that position that personal integrity comes first and foremost. general petraeus was scheduled to testify about the benghazi attacks.

the pentagon says a u.s. military group to seize their stockpile of weapons would require upwards of 75,000 troops. the times reports that senior american officials are concerned that the militant group hezbollah has set up training camps near some of the chemical weapons depots. >>> four people were killed in texas when a freight train slammed into a parade float carrying wounded veterans. this is just terrible. the accident happened at a railroad crossing in mid land, texas, as the float tried to get around the safety gates and lights. the float was made from a flatbed trailer with a chair for each veteran. in addition to the four deaths, 17 people were injured. mid land's mayor reacted to the accident. >> this may be one of the most tragic events we've had in our town and it's a sad day. i shook their hands and saw them personally, met their wives. truly was an honor to be in their presence. these guys are true american heroes. >> that's for sure. secretary of defense leon panetta issued a statement saying he's deeply sadened. the ntsb is sending a team to midland to investigate. >>>

the benghazi attack and when he knew it. let's get right to our pentagon correspondent barbara starr. barbara, what are you learning? >> wolf, i have just spoken to someone, a long-standing source who has spoken to david petraeus. this is someone on his level professionally. this person is directly familiar from petraeus with his thinking, with petraeus' thinking about what he will tell congress tomorrow about the benghazi attacks. david petraeus wants to tell congress that he knew almost immediately after the september 11th attacks that the group ansar al sharia, that al qaeda sympathizing group in libya was responsible for the attacks. here's how it goes. in petraeus' view there are two questions on the table. who was responsible? and that is ansar al sharia. he has intelligence he believes to back that up. second question, what was their motivation? that is where some of the confusion may lie. what this source says petraeus told him is there were about 20 intelligence reports that began to come in blaming that video -- that anti-islamic video that sparked the riots in cairo. that's the con
